"Down on the Farm"
A Show of Scratchboard Drawings

I'm having a solo show of new scratchboard works in April at the Art Can Heal gallery at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital in Auburn, CA. I don't know the official opening date yet, but I'll send out an announcement when I have the details. Below are two of the works that will be in the show, which features drawings on black scratchboard. I'm working feverishly to complete 15 new drawings of assorted farm animals, plus the sunflower and a vintage Ford tractor. I've been scanning the drawings in various stages, you can see the progress in this album.

In December of last year, I laid down a lot of ink when I took on a job to create illustrations for vernal pool signage that will eventually be installed at the Jepson Prairie Preserve. The illustrations and sign designs are mostly ready, although there may be some edits down the road, since funding still needs to be raised for the sign fabrication and installation. The signs will be laser-etched metal, so I drew the illustrations in pen. Line drawings were the best style for this type of sign. If you're interested in making a donation of any amount toward the sign fabrication and installation, please let me know and I'll contact you when the fund-raising for that phase begins.

Workshops & Open Studios
Come for a Visit, Learn a New Technique

I have two classes scheduled in July, one for scratchboard on July 13th and another for watercolor on Yupo on July 27th. Each workshop is from 10am - 3:30pm and each is $60 per person. These are at my studio in Newcastle, space is limited and pre-registration and payment is required. For more details, please visit this information page where you'll also find the supply list and outline for each workshop. If these dates don't work for you and you'd really like to learn more about either medium, I'd be happy to schedule a private workshop if you can round up a few friends.

I also have two open studio events scheduled, the first is on Mother's Day weekend, May 11th & 12th. The second is on October 12th & 13th as part of the Newcastle Art Studios Tour. Hours are from 10am - 5pm each day.

I plan to participate in this year's 20th Annual Autumn Art Studios Tour (November 8th - 10th), but I haven't submitted my application yet. I'll send out reminders as each of these studio events near.
